So, it turns out that I am, in fact, a mutant.
I discovered that I have heterochromia, which is a genetic mutation. I know you are thinking, how could you not have noticed that your eyes are two different colors? Well, the fact is that I discovered that when the left and right eye are different colors from each other, that is called Complete heterochromia. However, what I did not know is that there are other forms of heterochromia, including what is known as central heterochromia. This is the form that I have. Essentially, the iris is divided into an inner "ring" and an outer "ring". Both the left and right eye match, but the inner ring is different than the outer ring. In my case, the inner ring is gold, and the outer ring is blue/green, and I have a third ring around the exterior that is very dark. It is hard to notice from a distance, but it is indeed a form of heterochromia. You can see an example of central heterochromia below:

The miniscule differences between us sickens and terrifies me! I demand giant robots be built to protect me!
ReplyDeleteHuh, I did't know about that either...The reason this startles me is it seems I to have this condition. My eyes have a bright yellow inner ring and a faded green/blue outer ring.
ReplyDeleteI knew this for the longest time, but thought it was normal, then of course, the rest of my family doesn't seem to have this...
