Weekly Captioned Comic 8/24/12

So I had a bit of trouble getting the wording right on this one.  I knew what I wanted the story to be about, and how I wanted it to end, but getting the right text in the word balloons was tricky.  Hopefully you'll all still enjoy it.

As always, please leave me feedback.  It helps me to improve as well as letting me know if I should continue working on something or if I just move on to other pursuits.

Today's comic comes from Courting Disaster (www.courting-disaster.com)

So I apparently adopted a little sister today.  Or was adopted by one.  One or the other.

Either way, I seem to have suddenly gained a new family member.  One with whom I may actually be able to have a close, caring relationship with.

Formspring Question

And yet another question:

Are you a real girl, a straight man, and if it was approved of by our less-than-equal society, would you work as a pleasure slave for a kind Master who would treat you kindly?

In reference to the first part of your question, I actually answered that previously.  You can find my response here: http://angelscaptions.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-very-first-formspring-question.html#more

As for the second part.  A lot of my captions have some form of dominance or control to the theme.  Many times they involve someone being forced to follow orders.  My captions are a reflection of my fantasies, but they are, ultimately, only that.  I find the idea erotic because it is so unlike my real self.  And that is also a major purpose of this blog, I'm here to be someone else for a while.  Ordinarily, I'm generally of a more dominant and aggressive nature.  And I have a lot of issues with trust.  So while I can enjoy it in fantasy, were I to be at someone else's control, even if they promised to be kind, I would likely freak out.  So no, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid, outside of a story or a caption, I would not be able to work as any kind of a slave, even for a benevolent master.

Formspring Question

Got another formspring question to answer:

Umm...at the risk of sounding like an idiot-which would not be hard-what the hell is Otakon? Yours in puzzlement, Steven Thipps.

Well Mr. Thipps (mind if I call you Steven?).  Otakon is a wonderful and magical land of dreams.  Ok, not really.  Otakon is an anime convention, one of, if not the, biggest on the east coast.  Averaging around thirty thousand attendees, and lasting three full days.  For fans of anime, it is a huge event with a lot of big name guests, panels, showings, contests and, of course, cosplay.  Cosplay is short for costume play, and it is where people make (or buy, since now mass market versions of many characters are available) costumes of their favorite anime or game characters and attend.  There are photo shoots, skits, contests and a lot of random fun things that happen spontaneously (I once started a musical number while waiting for an event, for instance).  It may seem weird to people who are not part of the fanbase, but for the rest of us it is a great time.  We go and take over the city of Baltimore for a few days, shake up everyone's lives in the area a bit, and just have a lot of good fun.  In fact, Otakon is such a huge event that the city of Baltimore actually built a hotel at the convention center just to keep it from moving to a new city.

You can find the official convention website at www.otakon.com if you wish to know more.  You can also serach on google or deviantart for photos from this past convention, and all the previous ones (future ones are not available, unless you are a Doctor Who fan).

I hope this answers your question!

Self Reflections

So, in the interest of suiting actions to words, I finally put together something I've been working on for quite some time now.  I had the idea way back, and I even edited the images and started writing the text.  But I couldn't get the whole thing out, and it just sort of ended up on the shelf.  So I dusted it off and finally finished it.  Hopefully you'll enjoy it.

This is a story with images, so it is a bit longer.  You may also want to let it load all the way, especially if you are on a slower connection before reading.  Read it after the jump.
(note, all images can be enlarged by clicking on them)

Alright, so as you all know, I've just gone through a breakup.  I'm not going in to details here, that is something private.  But, as breakups go, this one is as gentle as it could be.  I'd be lying if I said I was fine, or happy.  But I made some promises that I intend to keep, and that means that no matter how much I'd like to just curl up in a hole somewhere I can't.

So I'm going to try and, if not move on, at least move forward.  And I'm going to try to keep captioning, because it will give me something to occupy my mind.

I can't promise that I'll post often or on any kind of schedule, not even for the weekly comics I've been doing.  I'll try, but my inspiration is fluid at the best of times, so it is going to be especially unpredictable now.  But as things come to me I will try to force myself to work through them, instead of just dumping them in the work in progress bin.
