Alright, so I went to the Cosplay Singles event last night. Everybody loved me. I was very popular, I got a lot of people who wanted a picture or to talk to me. After the speed dating, everyone I spoke to wanted to meet me and keep talking. I was loved so much that they demanded I be auctioned off as part of the Cosplay Auction, even though I had not signed up for it, where I was bought for a quite large sum.
HA! Like that would ever happen.
Stupid me, I arrived thinking that at a Singles event people would actually be, you know, single. But, as always, I was the only one who was there that wasn't part of a pre-existing clique. And no one was interested in letting me join in, even the people I've met at other events. So for much of the event I sat alone, drinking over priced scotch. And not even my favorite brand of scotch either. During the speed dating, I know for a fact that at least two of the people I talked to were already in a relationship, and one of them was only not in a relationship because the person they were interested in kept turning them down. It wasn't a complete lie when I said people wanted to continue our conversation, though. Most of the people I talked to did say they wanted to meet up after to keep talking without the time limit.
None of them did.
And it is not like I am hard to find. Even amongst other cosplayers I do a good job of standing out. People just didn't want to talk to me.
So, that puts the total number of rejections from the event up to 17 (less if you remove the people I know were in a relationship, but more if you count the people who weren't part of the speed dating part but who didn't want to talk to me when I tried). Either way you count it, that makes our contest winner Brandon Noble, who came the closest with only being twelve fewer than actual. Brandon, if you please send me your caption preferences (or if you are on Rachel's Haven, just point me to your profile) I will start working on your prize next week, after my exam is finished.
