PC update:

my desktop is still non-functional.  I installed the new video card, and at first that seemed to fix the problem.  Right off the bat, just putting the card in seemed to take care of the problem.  However, when I installed the drivers for it, the system required a reboot.  Upon doing so, the system crashed.  Now it has developed a  bunch of new problems.  I put in a request for tech support, but who knows how long it will take to get back to me and if they can even fix it.  In the meantime, I'm still on the laptop.  I'm going to try and start captioning again, though they may be a bit rough since all my tools and most of my supplies are on the desktop.  We'll see what happens.
