Formspring Question

Yet another formspring question:

Which would make you happier to create? A cap that you don't think is very good, but is VERY well received, or a cap that you think is great, but receives no comments whatsoever?

This is actually a very difficult question to answer.  I've actually had both situations happen to me.  Several times I've put forth what I believe to be some of my best work, something that took a great deal of effort to make, and gotten little or no reaction to it.  Similiarly, some of the captions that have gotten the greatest feedback have been ones that I felt were nothing more than throwaways, just simple quick slap together and go.  In the first case, it is very disheartening when I get no response to something I put a lot into.  It can be quite saddening, and has at times made me think of giving up captioning all together.  In the second case, its much harder to describe how it makes me feel.  But I know that it wasn't my best work, and the fact that it can get so much reaction when it was just something I slapped together can, in a way, be depressing as well.

If I had to pick though, I'd probably rather get a big reaction to something I don't think is very good.  At least that way I know that people are reading and enjoying my work, and any feedback at all can help me improve.

  1. I've gotten the same question in my Formspring! I would assume that its someone that has had both happen to them as well.

I'm still thinking about it to be honest, but your answer is pretty good.
