It was a long weekend, but a productive one I think.

I made an attempt at fixing the damaged insulation underneath my house.  Unfortunately it is a two person job, and I only qualify as one.  I'll have to get help and try again, hopefully next weekend.

In the meantime, I replaced the broken guest room door with a new one.  The old door was cracked at the knob and was split at the latch.  Which means that the knob was loose and it did not close properly.  And likely it would soon become completely unworkable as well.  So I bought a new door, had to drill out the hole for the knob and the latch, get new hinges to replace the cheap ones that were there, chisel out the door edge and jamb at the hinge points, paint the door and then hang it.  Then find out that it is too wide and won't close, so I have to take it down, bring it out side, cut an eight of an inch off, re-chisel the hinge points, repaint, then hang it again.  This time it worked.

I also completely replaced all of the interior doorknobs.  The exterior ones were done immediately upon purchasing the home, complete with new deadbolts that are top of the line.  But the interior knobs were all from the previous owners, and they were not in good condition.  And not a single one of them matched any of the others.  So I got a whole new set of good quality interior knobs.  I went with an antique brass finish, because apparently I'm doing a Steampunk theme with my house.  I just like the look of wood and brass.  It's classy.  So I replaced all the knobs in the house with new ones.  The bedrooms all have key locks, the guest bathroom has a push button lock, and the rest are just blank knobs.  All in all, it's a nice touch, I think.

Of course it took pretty much the whole weekend, and I'm fairly tired now, but hopefully it will all be worthwhile.
